Scarce 1st edition, Blue titled black and rose cloth cover, large format (folio) 9X 12. Introduction and notes by Abbe Niles and black and white illustrations and in-text drawings in pure Art Deco style by Miguel Covarrubias, his caricatures appeared in the New Yorker. 40 pages of text by Abbe Niles followed by 4 full page Covarrubias prints and 130 pages of music and words (sheet music) of blues songs, mostly Handy's own.

The period covered is 1900-1956.
